Encounter Breaks Out With Lashkar Terrorists In Reasi District Of Jammu And Kashmir

Reasi: An encounter broke out in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday evening, reportedly between a group of Lashkar terrorists and the security forces. According to the reports, the encounter between the security forces and the terrorists broke out in the Chassana area of the Reasi district. The area was cordoned off by the security forces. The Jammu and Kashmir police said that based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists, a Joint search operation was launched by the security forces at the Shikari area under the Chassana police station area. 

As per the J-K police, contact was established with the terrorists, following which several gunshots were fired from both sides. The area was cordoned off as the encounter was underway.

Further details regarding the undergoing encounter in Reasi's Chassana is being awaited.

Earlier, three terrorists were killed last week following an overnight gunbattle with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Commander of the Army’s 10 Sector Rashtriya Rifles Brigadier Sanjay Kannoth had said that security forces had been receiving inputs about the movement of terrorists in Kreeri. “Last night, we received specific intelligence from intelligence agencies about the presence of some unidentified terrorists in Chak Tapar/Watargam,” he had said, adding that a cordon was established at the suspected location.
