New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Rajasthan , Gujarat , Goa , and several districts in Maharashtra , warning of heavy downpours expected on Saturday. A yellow alert is in place for Delhi, Madhya Pradesh , Chhattisgarh , Andhra Pradesh, Odisha , Kerala , Telangana, Manipur , and Mizoram , cautioning residents about potential heavy rainfall in these regions.
Orange Alert Issued in These Regions
According to IMD, parts of East Rajasthan and multiple districts of Gujarat are likely to experience very heavy rainfall. Additionally, heavy rains are predicted in the Konkan region and Goa , with moderate showers expected in Madhya Maharashtra .
Yellow Alert in National Capital
In Delhi, the Regional Meteorological Centre forecasts cloudy skies with light rainfall and thunderstorms throughout the day. A yellow alert remains in effect in the national capital, with wet weather likely persisting until September 9. Saturday’s maximum temperature is forecasted to settle at around 30.44°C, while the minimum may hover around 28°C.
Mumbai to Experience Moderate Rainfall
Meanwhile, Mumbai’s rainy spell is expected to continue until September 11, with moderate rainfall anticipated for Saturday, according to the IMD.
In its latest bulletin, the IMD stated, “Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall is very likely over West India and Chhattisgarh , with scattered to widespread light/moderate rain over Central India” until September 12.
Further, from September 8 to 11, Kerala and Mahe are expected to receive isolated heavy rainfall. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam could experience similar conditions between September 7 and 8. Heavy precipitation is also likely in Telangana until September 8, and Karnataka is expected to see significant rainfall until September 9.
IMD Predicts ‘Very Heavy’ Rainfall for Northeast States
Looking ahead, the IMD forecasts very heavy rainfall in Nagaland , Manipur , Mizoram , and Tripura on September 11. Assam and Meghalaya are likely to experience downpours on September 7, while Odisha braces for rainfall over the next few days.
The weather agency also predicts isolated heavy rainfall in Rajasthan on September 7, with heavy showers expected to persist in the state until September 9. Uttarakhand is also likely to experience significant rain until September 7.
