IMD Predicts Heavy Rain in Assam, West Bengal and These States in Coming Week

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather forecasts predicting rainfall across various states on September 21. While there is no alert for heavy rainfall today, the IMD has warned of potential downpours in the coming days.
Rainfall Predictions for East and Northeast India
The IMD's latest bulletin indicates that Odisha is likely to receive heavy rain between September 22 and 24. Additionally, Nagaland , Manipur , Mizoram , and Tripura are expected to experience heavy rainfall from September 22 to 26. Assam , Arunachal Pradesh , and Meghalaya could see similar weather from September 23 to 26.
Meanwhile, hot and humid conditions will persist in West Bengal, Sikkim, and the northeastern states until September 22, with above-normal temperatures expected in the region until September 23.
Dry Weather in Rajasthan , Light Rain in Northwest India
In Northwest India, the IMD forecasts light to moderate rain for some areas, although Rajasthan is expected to remain mostly dry until September 27.
Rain Expected in Maharashtra , Gujarat , and Karnataka
Maharashtra , Andhra Pradesh, and Goa are predicted to see heavy rain on September 24 and 25. Gujarat is also likely to experience heavy showers on September 25 and 26, while Karnataka may get rainfall on September 24.
Air Quality: Nandesari Records Worst, Gangtok Best
In terms of air quality, Gujarat ’s Nandesari recorded the worst AQI in the country at 209, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). In contrast, Sikkim’s capital Gangtok registered the best air quality with an AQI of 13.
Delhi’s air quality was recorded at 113, placing it in the ‘moderate’ category, while Mumbai had a ‘satisfactory’ AQI of 69. The recent rains have helped improve air quality in several cities, but pollution levels remain a concern in some areas.
