Kangana Ranaut's ‘Emergency’ Delays, Filmmakers Plan Release Post-Punjab Elections
Kangana Ranaut's highly anticipated political drama, Emergency, has now reportedly been rescheduled to release after the Punjab elections.
Kangana Ranaut 's highly anticipated political drama, Emergency, has now reportedly been rescheduled to release after the Punjab elections. BJP MP Kangana Ranaut's eagerly awaited film, which was earlier slated to be premiered on September 6 across India has now been postponed by the filmmakers to ensure a more favourable time for the film’s debut on screen. According to reports by a leading media network, the film’s production team opted to delay the release to ensure that the environment was appropriate for the film.
As per the reports, a source close to the production stated that after fulfilling all the requirements of the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), the team decided to delay the release of the film until after the elections.
He further added that the film holds significant emotional value for everyone involved and that they want audiences to see it without any distractions in a suitable environment. “We felt that releasing it during a calmer period would be the wisest choice," he stated.
Notably, the CBFC has granted Emergency a U/A certificate, suggesting a few cuts for the film.
The film titled Emergency, directed by and starring Kangana Ranaut , depicts the political chaos of the emergency period of 1975, imposed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Following the release of its trailer, the film has sparked significant interest but also encountered backlash from Sikh organisations due to alleged misrepresentation, which led to the postponement of its release.
While the specific release date remains unannounced, it is evident that the filmmakers are closely monitoring the political landscape to choose the most suitable time for the film's launch.
