Mamata Says Committee Formed To Listen To Doctors Issues After Key Meeting
The meeting with the agitating doctors went for over two hours at the residence of Mamata Banerjee. Both sides are having the minutes of the meeting.
Kolkata: Mamata Banerjee , who met protesting junior doctors in the city demanding justice in the Kolkata rape-murder case, on Monday informed that a committee has been formed under Bengal chief secretary for doctors to raise issues in the future. The Chief Minister in a major decision announced the removal of Kolkata Police Commissioner and two key health officials of the state.
The meeting with the agitating doctors went for over two hours at the residence of Mamata Banerjee . Both sides are having the minutes of the meeting. Speaking to media, Mamata Banerjee said that there was consensus on some of the demands put forth by the doctors including removing Kolkata Police Commissioner and two health officials. She urged the doctors cease their strike and return to work.
However, a protesting junior doctor said that any decision regarding calling off the strike will be taken after consulting the seniors.
Mamata-Doctors First Meeting Over Kolkata Horror
The first round of talks between the West Bengal government and the agitating junior doctors at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee 's residence to address the RG Kar impasse concluded after nearly two hours, though it took two-and-a-half hours more to finalise the minutes of the meeting.
A delegation of 35 junior doctors arrived at Banerjee's Kalighat residence at 6:20 p.m. for the crucial talks, which began around 6:50 pm. The meeting ended around 9 pm. Following the meeting, both sides worked to finalise the minutes for the next two-and-a-half hours.
The doctors were seen leaving Banerjee’s residence at around 11:30 PM. During the talks, the doctors submitted a memorandum to the chief minister listing their demands.
