Man Claims Possession by Evil Spirit, Allegedly Kills Infant Son in Rajasthan

In Rajasthan's Bundi district, a 38-year-old man who claimed to be "possessed" by an evil spirit allegedly killed his infant son on Sunday morning, according to police. The incident took place in Dollar village around 5 am. 

Ten-month-old Ansh was sleeping with his mother, Gayatri, when the accused, Jitendra Bairwa alias Jittu, allegedly picked him up and slammed him to the ground, as reported by Kapren SHO Kamal Singh. 

The family rushed Ansh to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. A murder case has been filed against Bairwa under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the SHO said. After a post-mortem, the body was returned to the family. 

Bairwa, originally from Badunda village, had been residing with his wife and son at his in-laws' house for about a year and had been visiting an exorcist seeking "treatment" for relief from an "evil spirit," Singh added.
