No Evidence, Politically Motivated: Indian Diplomat's First Response In Canada On Nijjar's Killing
India's High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma, has categorically denied any involvement in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar
New Delhi: India's High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma, has categorically denied any involvement in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, which took place last year. In an exclusive interview with CTV, Verma dismissed the allegations, stating, "Nothing at all" when asked about any connection to the killing. He further emphasized that no evidence has been presented in support of the allegations made against the Indian authorities by the Justin Trudeau-led Canadian government and that the allegations are politically motivated.
The denial comes amid escalating tensions between India and Canada, with both countries expelling each other's diplomats. The US has also urged India to address the serious allegations from Canada regarding an assassination plot. Notably, Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot and killed in British Columbia last year.
According to the Canadian government's allegations, Indian officials were involved in Nijjar's murder, which India vehemently denies. Sanjay Verma's statement on the issue is the first official response from India on the matter. He emphasized that the allegations are baseless and aimed at straining relations between the two nations.
The diplomatic row has sparked concerns about the bilateral relations between India and Canada, which have been escalating ever since
