Odisha Cop Accused Of Assaulting Army Officer's Fiance Suspended, To Face Departmental Inquiry
Odisha government has initiated legal and departmental action against the police officer who assaulted a serving army officer's fiancé at in Bhubaneswar.
Odisha : The Odisha government suspended a police officer who allegedly kicked, slapped and sexually assaulted a serving army officer's fiance woman accompanying an army officer. The duo had visited the police station to lodge a complaint of a road rage. Taking action against the cop, the state government has initiated a high level inquiry against the official at the Bharatpur Police Station in Bhubaneswar.
In a statement, CMO Odisha said, “The Government has taken very serious view of the alleged misbehaviour and assault on serving Army officer and the woman accompanying him inside Bharatpur Police Station, Bhubaneswar. The government has initiated legal and departmental action including suspension of the police officers, against whom allegations have been made. Crime Branch has been directed to conduct expeditious investigation into the matter. Government of Odisha has ‘Zero Tolerance’ for crime against women. Women’s security is our utmost priority.”
