Mohali: The health department officials in Punjab's Mohali shockingly discovered a severed dog's head in a fridge at a momos and spring roll factory. The shocking incident surfaced when the health department officials reached the establishment to conduct raids over allegations of use of unhygienic measures at the food factory to prepare eatables. During the search, when the officials opened the door of the fridge, they were shocked to discover a severed head of a dog inside. The discovery took everyone by shock sending a shock wave among foodies, who love to eat momos and spring rolls. 

The officials also uncovered appalling violations of food safety norms at the food factory. The factory, operating in Mohali's Mataur village, was found to be preparing food items in dirty and unhygienic conditions, sparking widespread outrage and concern among consumers.

According to the officials, the raid, carried out jointly by the district health department and the municipal corporation, was prompted by a tip-off and a video showcasing the factory's poor hygiene standards. Upon inspection, officials discovered decayed and spoiled meat inside the unit, raising fears about the safety of food supplied to consumers.

Food Safety Concerns Spark Widespread Outrage

The discovery has sent shockwaves among foodies who frequent the establishment. The consumers are expressing concern about the safety of the food they have been consuming. People have expressed their concerns demanding the need for stricter food safety regulations and regular inspections to ensure public health and safety.

Large-Scale Distribution Of Unhygienic Food

The factory, which had been operating for two years, was reportedly supplying over a quintal of momos and spring rolls daily across Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Kalka. Authorities are concerned that many consumers may have unknowingly consumed unhygienic food from this unit, potentially putting their health at risk.

Stern Action Against Factory Owner

Following the discovery, the Mohali municipal corporation imposed heavy fines on the factory owner, including Rs 12,000 for illegal slaughtering practices and Rs 10,000 for the presence of banned plastic bags. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh stated, "We have issued challans and will also verify whether such food units have valid trade licenses for their operations. The priority is to protect public health and prevent people from consuming unsafe food."

As the investigation continues, authorities have warned of further legal action if the factory is found to have violated additional food safety regulations.
