Tamil Nadu: Family Of 5 Found Dead Inside Car In Suspected Suicide Pact Over Financial Stress
The victims were identified as Manikandan, a 50-year-old businessman, his wife Nithya, mother Saroja, and their two children.
Chennai: A family of five was found dead inside a deserted car in Tamil Nadu’s Pudukkottai district in an alleged suicide pact, the police reported on Thursday. The car was discovered parked along the Trichy-Karaikudi National Highway.
The local residents found the car with bodies inside and alerted the police. The cop suspects that the family consumed poison and locked themselves in the car during the suicide attempt.
A family members were the residents of Salem, located about 200 km from Pudukkottai district where their bodies were discovered.
The victims were identified as Manikandan, a 50-year-old businessman, his wife Nithya, mother Saroja, and their two children.
Meanwhile, the initial investigation suggested that the victims had consumed poison, the exact cause of their death will be confirmed following an autopsy at Pudukkottai Government Medical College Hospital.
The police also recovered a note from the car.
They are investigating the incident and whether the family was under financial stress from the money lenders, which may have prompted their move.
Manikandan was into the metal trading business.
