Telangana Tax Officer Arrested for Accepting Rs 35,000 Bribe

Telangana: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested B. Vasanth Indira, the Deputy Commercial Tax Officer of the Narayanguda Circle in Hyderabad, on Friday for accepting a bribe in exchange for ignoring discrepancies in the complainant's account.

The tax officer was arrested on the spot after being caught red-handed by ACB sleuths while accepting the bribe around 4:50 PM.

Sources reveal that Indira demanded Rs 35,000 from a man to overlook discrepancies in the account books of his company.

The bribe money was recovered from the officer, and a chemical test conducted on her right hand yielded positive results during the operation.

The Deputy Commercial Tax Officer is now under arrest and is scheduled to appear before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at the Nampally Court in Hyderabad.

Further investigation into this matter is underway.
