Kolkata: It has been a month to the horrific rape and murder of a trainee doctor of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital who had to go through the heinous act in the seminar room of the same hospital, during her 36-hour shift. As the protests seeking Justice for Abhaya continue across the globe, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has highlighted the roadblocks in the probe that are causing delay in justice.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has revealed the roadblocks that have been facing while investigating the Kolkata Rape and Murder Case; th4ese are the roadblocks that have been causing delay in justice for the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital victim, despite the arrest of the main accused in the case, Sanjoy Roy. Here's what a CBI official told the news agency PTI.

Is Sanjoy Roy the Only Accused?

Sanjoy Roy, who has been the main accused in the Rape and Murder case, was arrested a day after this horrific incident took place. Investigation is revealed several layers of crime in relation to this case, further highlighting the indirect involvement of the former principal of RG Kar, Sandip Ghosh. Viral videos of a crowded RG Kar Seminar Room after the crime have also surfaced; miscreants allegedly tampered with evidence by vandalising the hospital property; the parents of the accused have alleged involvement of several trainee doctors and staff members of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. These instances are pointing towards the possibility of involvement of multiple people and not just Sanjoy Roy.

Crime Scene Distorted, Vandalised

Several discrepancies have also been revealed with respect to the crime scene in the Abhaya Rape and Murder Case. The seminar room, where the trainee doctor was found raped and murdered in a horrific state and the surrounding areas, have gone through ‘renovations’ and ‘demolitions’. The probe agency found that the demolition of a toilet near the seminar room and a restroom was ordered by Sandip Ghosh himself. Viral videos of people crowding the crime scene after the incident and vandalism on the night of the August 14 protest also raise suspicions regarding tampering of crime scene.

Financial Irregularities at RG Kar

What started as an investigation of a rape and murder case, opened a can of worms, revealing the massive corruption taking place at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, under the then-principal Sandip Ghosh. Financial irregularities, illegal appointments, funds being siphoned off, pornography racket and smuggling of dead bodies are part of the investigation revelations. The simultaneous investigation of these financial irregularities and its connection with the rape and murder case is also causing delay in justice.
