New Delhi: Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad has sparked outrage by offering a reward of Rs 11 lakh to anyone who chops off Congress leader Rahul Gandhi ’s tongue. The statement came in response to Gandhi's remarks about scrapping the reservation system in India, a topic that has stirred big debate.

"The kind of statement given by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has revealed the real face of Congress . While he was abroad, Rahul Gandhi said that he wants to finish off the reservation system in India. This has exposed the true face of the Congress,” Gaikwad told reporters. He then added, "During his recent US visit, Rahul Gandhi talked about ending reservations. It shows the mindset that is inherently opposed to reservations. I will reward anyone who cuts off Rahul Gandhi's tongue with Rs 11 lakh.”

Gaikwad also accused the Congress of historically undermining the cause of reservations, citing Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's defeat in elections. "The Congress had defeated Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in elections," he claimed.

The MLA went on to criticize Gandhi’s recent comments, stating, "Gandhi's comments are the biggest treachery of the people. Communities like Marathas, Dhangars, and OBCs are fighting for reservation but before that, Gandhi is talking about ending its benefits."

He also alleged hypocrisy in Congress ’s stance on constitutional matters. " Rahul Gandhi used to show the Constitution book and spread fake narrative that the BJP would change it. But it is the Congress that plans to take the country back by 400 years,” Gaikwad added.

Maharashtra BJP Distances Itself From Gaikwad's Remarks

Despite being a constituent of the Shiv Sena-led government, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekar Bawankule was quick to distance himself from Gaikwad’s inflammatory remarks. “I will not support or endorse Gaikwad's comments. However, we cannot forget that the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had opposed reservations, saying it would affect progress."

Bawankule went on to mention other Congress leaders, saying, "Rajiv Gandhi had said giving reservations means supporting idiots. Now Rahul Gandhi says he would end reservations. We will sensitise the SCs, STs, and OBCs and inform them about the comments of Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi . Even Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange should think about it."

Congress Condemns Gaikwad's Remarks

The remarks have drawn sharp condemnation from the Congress party. Atul Londhe, spokesperson for Maharashtra Congress , said, “Sanjay Gaikwad does not deserve to live in society and politics. We want to see whether Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis invokes charges of culpable homicide against Gaikwad.”

Congress MLC Bhai Jagtap also expressed his disapproval, stating, “I condemn such people and comments. These people have spoiled the politics of the state.”

Gaikwad, who represents the Buldhana constituency in Vidarbha, is no stranger to controversy. Last month, a video showing a policeman washing the MLA’s car went viral. Gaikwad later clarified that the officer cleaned the vehicle voluntarily after vomiting inside it.

Gaikwad Not New to Controversy

Earlier this year, Gaikwad made headlines for claiming he had hunted a tiger in 1987 and wore its tooth as a pendant. The state Forest Department later sent the tooth for forensic identification and charged Gaikwad under the Wildlife Protection Act.
What Rahul Gandhi 's said on the reservation.

What Rahul Gandhi Had Said?

During his recent visit to the United States, the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi , suggested that India could consider eliminating the reservation system only when the country becomes a truly “fair place” that ensures equal opportunities for all its citizens, regardless of their background.

Following his comments, which sparked widespread reactions, Gandhi issued a clarification, stating that he is not opposed to the idea of reservations and reaffirmed his party’s commitment to expanding the system if they came to power.

“Yesterday someone misrepresented my statement that I am against reservation. But let me make it clear – I am not against reservation. We will take reservation beyond the limit of 50 per cent,” Gandhi said during a press conference at the National Press Club in the US.
