Zeeshan Baba Siddique Meets Fadnavis, Pawar After Fresh Threats To Salman Khan Demanding Rs 5 Cr

Mumbai: Former NCP ( Ajit Pawar faction) leader Baba Siddique's son and Congress MLA Zeeshan Siddique met Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar at Fadnavis' official residence, Sagar, on Friday to discuss the on-going probe of his father's killing on October 12.
Family Broken, Death Must Not Be Politicised: Zeeshan
Zeeshan on Thursday, took to X and wrote, "My father lost his life protecting and saving the lives and homes of poor innocent people. Today, my family is broken but his death must not be politicised and definitely not go in vain. I NEED JUSTICE, MY FAMILY NEEDS JUSTICE!"
Mumbai Police Swing Into Action After Threat Message For Salman Khan
An official said the Crime Branch initiated a probe after Mumbai traffic police, on Friday, received a threat message demanding Rs 5 crore from actor Salman Khan.
Case Registered At Worli Police Station
A case was registered at Worli police under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for threat and extortion after the city’s traffic control room received the message on its WhatsApp helpline on Thursday afternoon.
The case has been registered on the complaint of a traffic police personnel, the official added.
"The sender also said the threat should not be taken lightly. The probe has been transferred to the Crime Branch," he said.
The superstar had earlier received death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Bishnoi gang members had also opened fire outside the actor’s Bandra home in April, he said.
Meanwhile, the Navi Mumbai police on Thursday uncovered a plot to kill Khan by the Bishnoi gang in June and arrested one of its shooters, identified as Sukhbir Singh of Haryana 's Panipat, he said.
5 More Arrested in Siddique's Murder
Five more persons were held on Friday in connection with the murder of Siddique, taking the total number of arrests in the sensational case to nine, a Mumbai police official said.
Based on specific information, raids were carried out by the Crime Branch in Panvel and Karjat in neighbouring Raigad district, leading to the arrest of these five persons for conspiracy related to the crime and its execution, he said.
The arrested persons were also in touch with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which is accused of gunning down Siddique, the official added.
"The total number of arrests in the case now stands at nine. Further probe is underway," he added.
Siddique was shot at and grievously injured on October 12 near his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique's office in Nirmal Nagar in Mumbai's Bandra area.
The Congress -turned-NCP leader died some time later in nearby Lilavati Hospital.
The four persons arrested earlier include two alleged shooters who were overpowered by police and passersby at the spot itself. (with PTI inputs)
