Step 1

  • Get rid off the dead skin: You need to brush off all the dead skin from your lips. Use a toothbrush with soft bristles and scrape off all the dead skin, be very gentle on your lips. This step will also add on some extra volume to your lips, making them look plumper than before.

Step 2

  • Use a lip balm: Use your favourite flavour lip balm-it could be chocolate, cherry, strawberry etc. Apply it evenly on your lips, start with your upper lip and distribute an appropriate amount all over your lips. This step is very important in order to deeply moisturize your lips, thus preventing dryness. Let your lip balm sit on your lips for good 5 minutes so that the balm deeply penetrates into the skin.

Step 3

  • Apply compact: Applying compact powder on your lips helps your lipstick to stay for a longer span. So after your lip balm, apply compact powder all over your lips with the help of a makeup sponge or beauty blender.

Step 4

  • Line your lips: Use a lip liner to give your lips a desirable shape. Always remember to use a shade that is darker than the tone of your lipstick. By doing so you will get a dual-tone lipstick shade illusion. Start by drawing the lip-liner on the edges of your lips. Now it's time to reveal the secret makeup tip, which makes all the difference. Fill in your lips with a shade similar to your lipstick colour. This will help in overlining your liner and also camouflaging your lipstick. Thus, giving it a solid foundation and more lip area to work upon.

Step 5

  • Finally, it’s to time to apply your lipstick: Pick a shade that goes with your OOTD and start applying it over your lips. Work in the direction of the lips, if you're using a matte lipstick then you can use the cross trick. Draw a cross shape on your upper lip, this technique makes it easy to fill both the sides of your lips. Repeat the step on your lower lip and you’re done!

Hot tip: In order to avoid your lipstick from smudging, always precisely line the edges of your lips with a compact powder and take off the excess lipstick with the help of a tissue.
