With our tiring routines and a fast lifestyle, it gets difficult to stay fit and active. Since there is no time left to hit the gym or exercise regularly after work for most of us, our bodies tend to bloat due to long sitting hours. We also consume a lot of calories in an entire day and it is necessary to burn them regularly to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Here are a few tips to help you burn a few calories while you are in office.

Take the stairs

Taking the stairs can burn around 34 calories in 10 minutes. Taking the stairs will not only improve the pumping of your heart, but will also tone your legs. Climbing eight flight of stairs lowers the early mortality risk by 33%. Spending nearly 7 minutes of climbing a stair can halve the risk of heart attack by over 10 years. This will also help you maintain the middle-age weight gain.

Stretch your body

Do you remember the way we used to stretch our bodies during the PT period back in school? There was a reason our teachers made us do it. Stretching our bodies loosens our muscles which makes us feel active and flexible. It also increases blood flow in our muscles and brings nourishment which helps in getting rid of waste byproducts in the muscle tissue. Just sit firmly on your chair and twist the upper body in the direction of the arm that’s resting behind the chair. Hold on for 30 seconds. Repeat on the other side.

Pretend to walk

Working for long hours means sticking to your desk for hours. The best way to burn calories at work is by getting up from your desk as soon as possible but if your job challenges you to stay at your desk, you can pretend to walk to burn a few calories. It is extremely easy to do this exercise. Just sit up straight on your chair. While keeping your knees bent, lift your right leg up, lower it, lift the left leg up, lower it and repeat it as many times as you like. After this workout, stretch your leg for 10 minutes.
