Sachin Tendulkar Lauds Abhinandan's Leadership At Recent IAF Parade

Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to express his joy on watching Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman at the Air Force Day Celebrations in Ghaziabad on October 8.

The Indian Air Force celebrated its 87th anniversary this Tuesday at the Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad. Among the many notable guests for the celebrations was the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin took to Twitter to share his feelings on meeting the brave Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.

"Had goosebumps seeing him lead the parade"

In his tweet, Sachin expresses how he is awestruck seeing the Wing Commander fly by. The video shows multiple formations of jets flying by. Those jets had pilots who were a part of the Balakot Air Strikes that had taken place in February. The ex-cricketer is an honorary Air Force Group Captain by himself.

Abhinandan flew past in an Avenger formation as part of a three-man jet team of MIG-21 Bisons. The Indian Air Force Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria was also in attendance as the Chief Guest of the celebrations.

About Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman

Abhinandan Varthaman is a symbol of bravery and patriotism who has come into the limelight because of his contribution to the Balakot Air Strike earlier this year. Abhinandan has been part of the team which had struck down terror camps near the Pakistani Border and even shot down a Pakistani F-16 jet in the dogfight that ensued. He was later captured by Pakistan and released shortly thereafter. His bravery has been appreciated throughout the country and many social media trends were seen in his name during this period. He has also been conferred with the Vir Chakra on August 15 this year for his contribution to the nation.
