Shahid Afridi has been one of Pakistan's biggest match-winners. While it is well known that Afridi is destructive with the bat as he possesses the ability to hit sixes at will, he is also effective with ball as well. Shahid Afridi holds the record of the most sixes in One Day Internationals (351) which is also the most number of maximums in international cricket. Shahid Afridi had bid adieu to international cricket in 2016. Afridi had also held the record for the fastest ODI centuries for 18 years. In fact, it was on this day back in 1996 that the former skipper had smashed a 37-ball century against Sri Lanka. This moment was highlighted by a cricket publication on social media. However, a former English cricketer decided to come forward and have some fun.

Shahid Afridi's record of the fastest ODI ton

In that match against Sri Lanka, Shahid Afridi went on to score a 40-ball 102. He went on to hold that record of the fastest ODI century for the next 18 years. It was eventually shattered by New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson who had smashed a 36-ball hundred against West Indies. Nonetheless, that record did not last long as it was broken by the South African batting superstar AB  de Villiers the following year against the same opposition i.e. the Caribbeans after he scored a 31-ball century.
