Former Australia Opener David Warner has been announced as the skipper for Pakistan's franchise league side Karachi Kings. He will be replacing Shan Masood at the helm and will be in action for the Pakistan Super League in the 2025 season. Notably, Warner went unsold in the IPL mega auction, which prompted him to enter PSL's auction pool.
David Warner has been a mainstay in the Indian Premier League for quite a while. The former Australia cricket has had a journeyman career as he has been a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals before being released ahead of the IPL mega auction. After retiring from International cricket, he has been focusing on franchise cricket and trying to give back to the game with his expertise. The Aussie cricketer will now embark on a journey after being elected as the skipper for a PSL franchise.
The Karachi Kings have announced 38-year-old David Warner as the side's new skipper in a social media post on ‘X’ [Formerly Twitter].
After going unsold in the IPL Mega Auction in Jeddah, David Warner signed himself up for the Pakistan Super League. He was one of the top draws in the auction pool and was classified in the PSL Draft's platinum category.
David Warner will be making his debut in the tournament after the Karachi Kings picked him up for USD 300,000 at the auction. The Aussie was the franchise's first pick in the platinum category. Warner will be leading KK from the beginning of the PSL 2025 season.
The Pakistan Super League will commence on 11th April 2025 with the first clash happening between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars. Warner will be making his PSL debut with KK against the Multan Sultans on April 12, 2025.
