Rohit Sharma 's Team India might be cruising along fairly well in the ongoing Champions Trophy , but this does not take away the fact that their recent performances in Test matches have been far from good. White-ball cricket isn't a concern for the Indian team, but as far as their red-ball skills are concerned, the Indian players seem to be struggling. India's recent performances against Australia in a five-match Test series and against New Zealand in a three-match Test series at home have exposed India's skillset in the purest format of the game.
After a shocking loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly released a 10-point diktat that is specifically aimed at improving Indian players' red-ball game. India, who were assured of a spot in the World Test Championship 2025 (WTC) final, were eliminated following an away series loss against Australia. India's next Test series will be against England, after the culmination of the eighteenth season of the Indian Premier League.

BCCI Likely To Issue Strict Guidelines For Members Of Indian Test Team
India will kickstart their World Test Championship 2027 cycle with an away series against England. India's fate in the next cycle of the WTC will massively depend on the upcoming England Test tour. As per a report published in Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is working on a plan that will allow the players of the Indian Test team to fine-tune their red-ball skills while playing the IPL . This means that players of the Indian Test team will have to manage their time during the IPL alongside travel days and match days.

The report further states that the members of the Indian Test team will be asked to indulge in occasional red-ball practice sessions so that they can stay in touch with the longest format of the game. The IPL will be played from March 22, 2025, to May 25, 2025, and the first IND vs ENG Test match will be played from June 20, 2025. As per the report, a few rounds of preliminary meetings have already taken place in Dubai, which included key figures of the Indian team management and BCCI planners.

Gautam Gambhir 's Tenure Likely To Be Revaluated After The Champions Trophy
After India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia by a margin of 3-1, it was being reported that the BCCI will revaluate his tenure after the completion of the Champions Trophy. India have been clinical so far in the ongoing Champions Trophy, and the Head Coach might be relieved with it. But that does not change the fact that the upcoming IND vs ENG series will be a huge series, considering its importance in the next World Test Championship cycle.
