Ibrahim Zadran Shatters Records! Afghan Batter Tops Ben Duckett's Landmark Innings, Secures Elite Spot Among Legends

Champions Trophy 2025: Records continue to shatter in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy as Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran rose to the occasion with a blistering 177-run knock against England. The AFG star stood utterly dominant against the English bowling attack with his relentless onslaught as he stitched some vital partnerships with his compatriots. Zadran's bludgeoning innings against the Jos Buttler-led side earned him a spit in the history of the ICC Champions Trophy. He also earned himself a spot alongside some of the legends of the game. 

Ibrahim Zadran Elevates Himself Into The League Of Legends

Afghanistan delivered a spectacular innings against England in an attempt to advance into the semifinal of the ICC Champions Trophy. Skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi led the Afghan Atalans against the Three Lions as they came out to bat. They displayed intent and grit, with opener Ibrahim Zadran delivering the innings of a lifetime. Shahidi and other Afghanistan batters effectively aided the side as they reached the score of 325/7 at the end of fifty overs.

Opener Ibrahim Zadran's innings earned a spot in history after he soared over Ben Duckett's 165-run innings. The Afghan scored 177 of 146 balls to become the Champions Trophy's highest individual score in history. Zadran's innings included 12 boundaries and six sixes to reach the feat and cement his name in the legacy of the Champions Trophy. He has also raced past some of the legendary names like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Nathan Astle to become the top-scorer.

Afghanistan Deliver Bludgeoning Innings Despite England's Resistance 

The Hashmanutullah Shahidi-led Afghanistan side did not have the ideal start after Jofra Archer scalped out three batters -- Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Sediqullah Atal and Rahmat Shah -- at just 37 runs, which almost triggered a collapse. But Ibrahim Zadran's record-setting innings aided the side in healing the side and reaching the score of 325 at the loss of seven wickets.

Ibrahim Zadran received proper backing from skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi, who scored 40 runs and stitched a key partnership to stabilize the Afghans. Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammed Nabi also forged a partnership with the opener until they lost their wicket at 41 and 40 runs, respectively.

The Afghan Atalans have delivered a decent number on the scoreboard, and the English side is expected to have a tough time while chasing it up.
