Champions Trophy: Days after suffering a tournament-ending injury which restricted his appearance in the Champions Trophy , Fakhar Zaman is contemplating a retirement from One-Day International cricket. The PAK opener suffered an injury which effectively ended his time in the marquee ICC event, and he is now considering to retire from the format after a poor show.

Pakistan Cricket's dream to successfully defend their Champions Trophy title have been thwarted by India and New Zealand after the two table toppers kicked them out of semifinal contention. The Mohammad Rizwan -led side did not pose a threat to any of their opponents, leading to their ousting from the competition they were hosting. After the massive setback, the PCB have run into a new problem as one of their top cricketer is considering to step down from one of the white-ball formats.
Fakhar Zaman, the Pakistani opener, is expected to announce his retirement from the ODI format, as per a report from Samaa TV. The report added that the top Pakistani cricketer has discussed about it with some of the team's veteran stars during the ICC Champions Trophy. One of the key reasons for his decision to retire from ODI cricket is that he intends to extend his career and primarily put his attention on T20 cricket. Another big factor is the recent health and fitness-relates issues he has been dealing.
"He is basically upset and down because of his recent fitness and health issues,” a source close to the batsman said, as quoted by PTI.

PCB Urges Fakhar Zaman To Not Decide Hastily
Pakistan's premier white-ball cricketer Fakhar Zaman, who is currently out with an injury, has seemingly presented his decision to the PCB. However, they have advised him to take a break and get fully fit before making a decision upon his ODI retirement.

“He has been advised to take a break and first get completely fit and healthy before he makes any decision. Fakhar has been told after that he can take a decision on his ODI career but to do nothing in frustration or haste,” the source added.
Given that the PSL is approaching soon, Fakhar Zaman would leave no stones unturned to come back healthy and be a part of the Pakistan's T20 franchise competition. It is yet to be seen what does the PAK opener decides upon his future in ODI cricket.
