IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians are certainly going to miss regular captain Hardik Pandya in their season opener versus Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. Hardik will not be part of the squad as he is serving a one-match ban he picked up during MI's last game in the 2024 season.
He has been penalised due to slow over-rate. Suryakumar Yadav would be in charge of the MI side during their season opener.
Hardik missing the game would be a massive relief for Chennai Super Kings. The MI captain showed his class in a net session recently, where he was dealing in sixes. The striking and the shape he maintained along with the balance was very good.
He would desperately be hoping to have a good season. Here is the clip of Hardik's net session at MI where he turns on his beast mode. Here is the clip that is doing the rounds on social space. "Ek se badhkar ek चाबूक shots 💥 #MumbaiIndians #PlayLikeMumbai," MI captioned the clip.
Meanwhile, MI would like to start afresh after a forgetful 2024 season, where not only could they not make the playoff but end at the last spot in the points table.
For MI to have a good season, they need to start well and that is why they will dearly miss Hardik when they lock horns with familiar foes CSK. The two teams will clash for the El Classico on March 23.
MI would have a new pair at the top of the order in all probability. Rohit Sharma is likely to open with Ricky Rickleton. For the unversed, MI would also be missing the services of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah . The pacer is recovering from an injury he picked up in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
