KL Rahul scored 101 runs to lead India to 245 runs in their opening innings. Dean Elgar scored 185 runs in the first innings, which helped South Africa reply with a dominant 408 runs. Gerald Coetzee ruled out of the 2nd Test against India
Gerald Coetzee, a fast bowler for South Africa, sustained pelvic inflammation during the first Test at Centurion, and will miss the second and final Test against India. On the third day of the first Test, the 23-year-old's ailment got worse while he was bowling. He bowled just five overs in the second innings and only took one wicket in the first. In the match, South Africa won handily, winning by an innings and thirty-two runs.
