Ind vs Eng: A fresh report now claims that Rohit Sharma may opt to pull out of the tour of England. With the tour still a few months away, one surely cannot confirm what happens. As per a source close to India Today, Rohit could very well miss the tour as he is yet to make up his mind, and that raises the speculation over who will then lead the side. This report contradicts the PTI report that claimed Rohit would be leading the side in England. For the unversed, Jasprit Bumrah is still not 100 per cent fit.

Rumours of his retirement started making the rounds after the veteran batter opted out of the Sydney Test. However, the India Test captain said that he had no intentions of bidding goodbye to Test cricket.

‘Not moving away from this game’

"This is not a decision of retirement. I am not moving away from this game. But I took a decision to step away from this game because I was not able to score runs with the bat. There is no guarantee that I will score runs 2 months or 5 months from now,” Rohit had told Star Sports.

Retirement of Injury?

Injury cannot be the reason as he is featuring in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League for the Mumbai Indians. What does not work for him is his record as a batter in Tests in Australia. He did not live upto the expectations and that raised speculations over his future in red-ball cricket.

Team India will begin their 45-day trip to England with the opening game at the iconic Headingley on June 20. The Indian side would be eyeing their first win in a series versus England in England since 2007.
