IPL 2025: Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders will host the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 opener at the Eden Gardens. The Knights will be led by the experienced Ajinkya Rahane while Venkatesh Iyer will deputise him in the current campaign.
KKR decided to part ways with their former captain Shreyas Iyer and bolstered their squad with some valuable additions with the likes of Spencer Johnson and Quinton de Kock at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Following the opening game in Kolkata, KKR will then travel to Guwahati to face Rajasthan Royals at their second home. The three-time IPL champions have managed to retain their core setup to some extent but the departure of Iyer and Gautam Gambhir could pose a threat to their IPL title credentials.
Ahead of IPL 2025, former CSK all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has joined the franchise as the mentor.
