Virat Kohli will headline RCB's IPL 2025 opener against KKR on March 22. The 36-year-old is into his 18th edition in the cash-rich league and has been an integral part of the IPL since its inception.
Virat currently leads the IPL run-scoring charts with 8004 runs in 244 innings and the former RCB skipper is expected to light up the IPL 2025 with his free-flowing run-scoring antics. Virat is standing on the verge of a massive milestone ahead of the KKR vs RCB IPL 2025 opener.
He needs 38 runs more to break into the 1000-run mark against KKR in the IPL. He is currently the 4th highest run-getter against the defending champions and should he be able to score five runs more in the match he will leapfrog Suresh Raina in the 3rd position.
Virat retired from the T20 format after India's T20 World Cup triumph in 2024 but has continued to play IPL. RCB's poor record against KKR has been a major dent in their IPL credentials and Virat will be eager to douse the damage this time. They lost to KKR twice last season and a change in the tactics could be witnessed this time around.
David Warner - 1093 runs from 28 matches
Rohit Sharma - 1070 runs from 34 matches
Suresh Raina - 966 runs from 28 matches
Virat Kohli - 962 runs from 35 matches
Virat also has breached the 1000 runs hurdle against Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings and KKR could be the 4th team on his list. No other players in the IPL have managed to record 1000 runs against two or more IPL teams which speaks volumes about Virat Kohli's skills. RCB qualified for the playoffs last time but a loss to Rajasthan in the eliminator ended all their hopes. They will be hoping to finish in the top two in order to secure a direct place in the IPL final.
