The 2025 Indian Premier League has successfully finished five out of 74 matches, with the Punjab Kings securing a win over Gujarat Titans at their home. Shreyas Iyer begins his new journey with a win, and his redemption tour has kicked off on a strong note. Despite the Gujarat Titans trying to power through, they could not make the chase as the red and gold secured an 11-run win. All the IPL teams have officially played their first matches, with the winners taking a leap ahead while the losers take a bit of a backseat in the points table. Check out the updated points table after the Gujarat Titans vs Punjab Kings clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Punjab Kings have risen to the number three spot after securing an 11-run win over Gujarat Titans, who are at the number 8 spot. Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Chennai Super Kings and the Delhi Capitals have secured the number one, two four and five spots on the table. All teams have a two-point lead, but SRH are at the top due to their net run rate.
Teams like the Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals are at the number six, seven, nine and ten spots, respectively. Their respective positions are calculated as per the net run rate.
Shreyas Iyer pulled off a stand-and-deliver-like impact as he made his debut for the Punjab Kings against the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. The skipper delivered an unbeaten 97 to keep the Kings shining bright against the Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Opener Priyansh Arya looked well settled with Iyer as he scored a 23-ball 47. Marcus Stoinuis and Shashank Singh's cameo helped the score to reach 243 at the loss of five wickets after 20 overs. GT's Sai Kishore shined with the ball as he scalped three, while Rabada and Rashid picked up a wicket each.
Gujarat Titans came in for the chase, with skipper Shubman Gill trying to go big but settling for a 33-run knock. Jos Buttler came in strong as he scored 54 while opener Sai Sudharsan did the heavy work with his 74-run knock. Sherfane Rutherford's blitzing 46 made it look like GT could go past the score. However, PBKS struck up strong with the introduction of Vijaykumar Vyshak, who made it difficult for the GT batters. The Titans' efforts fell flat as they had to settle at 232 runs.
