Ashutosh Sharma's scintillating knock against the Lucknow Super Giants propelled him to fame. The middle-order batter played a gigantic role in the Delhi Capitals' win and put them on the map for title contention. LSG were left embarrassed as the win was practically snatched away from their hands. Ashutosh's power display impressed former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, and he had nothing but praise for the young Indian talent. The former cricketer expressed that he was positive for DC as long as Ashutosh was in the middle for the side.
The Delhi Capitals' one-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants has been one of the most thrilling IPL 2025 matches so far. Ashutosh Sharma's 31-ball 66 pulled off a massive comeback win for DC at Vizag. The Indian batter's gallant innings restricted the Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants. The win was so huge that Kevin Pietersen could not resist yelling in glee and excitement, given that the team pulled up from behind. Pietersen and the 26-year-old Ashutosh shared a moment after the match.
In a video shared by the Delhi Capitals on 'X' [Formerly Twitter], Delhi Capitals mentor Kevin Pietersen was seen interacting with Ashutosh Sharma, and the former English cricketer applauded the batter's grit and perseverance during the game, which helped the Capitals win.
“This game is not over until Ashutosh is batting,” Pietersen exclaimed.
Ashutosh Sharma has proved himself an absolute steal for the Delhi Capitals. After being released by the Punjab Kings, DC picked him up for INR 3.8 crore, and he proved his worth in the game. Despite the Axar Patel-led side suffering a humongous top-order collapse, Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam stood up to the task and pushed till the final over. The game ended up being a last-ball thriller, and Sharma smacked the winning maximum to finish things off for the Capitals.
The Delhi Capitals will now focus on keeping their winning momentum in the game alive, but their next opponent will not be an easy one either. Capitals will now face the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium
