Indian Premier League: Following Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) eight-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on March 26, former Australian cricketer Shane Watson lauded Quinton de Kock's 97-run knock and said that it was a vintage performance from the South African.
Quinton de Kock was named the 'Player of the Match' following his unbeaten 97-run knock from 61 balls at a strike rate of 159.02. He slammed 8 fours and 6 sixes against the Royals during his time on the crease.
Speaking on JioHotstar, Watson said that it was a comfortable chase for the Knight Riders and praised De Kock for being 'outstanding' against RR. The former Aussie cricketer said that the South African's form will boost KKR's confidence in the upcoming matches of the ongoing T20 tournament.
"It was definitely a comfortable chase, and Quinton de Kock was simply outstanding tonight. That was vintage Quinton de Kock—the kind of brilliance we've seen over the last 10 to 15 years, whether in the IPL or on the international stage. He executed his shots beautifully. That pull shot he played off Jofra Archer over mid-wicket—my goodness—it was a testament to the sublime form he's in. This performance will give KKR tremendous confidence, knowing they have such explosive firepower in their middle order. It’s a significant confidence-boosting win for KKR tonight," Watson told JioHotstar.
The defending champions started their IPL 2025 voyage with a defeat against RCB in the inaugural match of the season. However, the Knight Riders made a solid comeback and sealed an eight-wicket triumph over the Royals.
Currently, KKR stand in the sixth place on the IPL 2025 standings with two points and have a net run rate of -0.308. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals suffered two back-to-back defeats in the ongoing extravagant tournament. The Royals stand in the bottom of the points table with a net run rate of -1.882.
