With the 2025 editions of the Indian Premier League ( IPL ) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) set to clash, there was always going to be a case of overseas players having to choose which league they would rather play in.
And while most overseas players would prefer playing in the cash-rich IPL, the limited number of slots available meant that many would have to be content with a spot in the PSL.
However, there was always going to be a chance of players set to take part in the PSL getting an IPL chance as a replacement player - and that is exactly what has happened in the case of Corbin Bosch.

The South African pacer was picked by Peshawar Zalmi in the Diamond category during the latest edition of the PSL draft that was held in Lahore on January 13.
But he has now ditched his PSL contract to join the Mumbai Indians as a replacement player for compatriot Lizaad Williams - and this has left the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) fuming.
In fact, the PCB sent the South African player a legal notice as they feel he has breached his contractual obligations by opting out of the PSL and playing in the IPL.
"The legal notice was served through his agent, and the player has been asked to justify his actions of withdrawing from his professional and contractual commitments," the Pakistan Cricket Board stated in a release on Sunday.
The PCB management also outlined the repercussions of his departure from the league and stated that they expected his response within the stipulated time frame. The PCB closed the statement by saying they will not make any further comments on the matter.
As of now, Bosch is yet to publicly respond to the matter.
The 2025 edition of the PSL will take place April 11 to May 25, which will overlap with the IPL as that is set to run from March 22 to May 25.
This is the first time in the history of the two tournaments that they will be taking place in the same window.
Many foreign players who were not picked in the IPL auction, including Bosch, were later picked in the PSL 2025 draft.
However, his act of pulling out could potentially set the stage for more Indo-Pak cricket clashes - this time in the field of franchise cricket.
