The IPL 2025 is underway as Gujarat Titans led by Shubman Gill are all set to play against Punjab Kings on 25th March 2025. This is the second year that Shubman Gill will be captaining Gujarat Titans after former captain Hardik Pandya left the side to rejoin Mumbai Indians as their captain. Under Hardik Pandya's captaincy, Gujarat Titans won their first IPL trophy, that too in their debut season and were the finalists in the season after that. Ever since Shubman Gill has taken charge of the team, GT have failed to replicate the success they had under Pandya.

"It's a team game. One guy can't win it. So, I don't think it has anything to do with Shubman or his captaincy. I think T20 cricket has more to do with who's in form at the right point in time, and the Sunrisers and KKR were in the best form for the trip, you know," said Glenn Phillips in the media interaction according to Hindustan Times.

In the 2024 season of the IPL, GT finished in eighth place in the IPL table.
