'No Truth In This. Never Crossed My Mind': Fakhar Zaman Addresses ODI Retirement Speculations, Sets the Record Straight
Pakistan cricketer Fakhar Zaman has quashed all the rumours over his retirement from the ODIs and also offered some details over his recovery timeline.

Amid speculation over the possible retirement of Pakistan cricketer Fakhar Zaman, the PCB has shared a video featuring the cricketer, and he has refuted the claims about calling time from ODI Cricket. The injured white-ball specialist cricketer said that he intends to compete in all formats of cricket and also offered a timeline over the revocery process.
Fakhar Zaman Clears The Air, Addresses Retirement Rumours
Rumours were rampant over Fakhar Zaman's future in ODI cricket after the Pakistan batter suffered an injury. The PAK cricketer was dealing with a muscle strain when Pakistan campaign began in Champions Trophy 2025 against New Zealand. The cricketer's withdrawal was a massive blow, as the host nation suffered two back-to-back defeats which led to their elimination. Amid the rumored retirement fiasco, Fakhar Zaman has quashed the speculations.
“l've also heard a lot about this and my friends have also sent messages. There is no truth in this. One-day is my favourite format and yes, because of my thyroid, I was thinking of taking some time off from cricket. But retirement never crossed my mind. I want to play One-day, T20, even I want to play Test cricket,” Fakhar Zaman said in a video posted by the Pakistan Cricket Board on 'X' [Formerly Twitter].

Fakhar Zaman Opens Up On His Comeback
Fakhar Zaman has also revealed a timeline over his return to competitive cricket, addressing that he is hopeful for a return in a month. He added that the doctors have witnessed significant improvement and that he could begin training in the next three weeks.
"As far as my comeback (from injury) is concerned, I will hopefully return to competitive cricket in a month. I got an idea (about my Champions Trophy campaign ending) after the pain I felt.

"In the last one week, I've seen a marked improvement in my healing. The doctor has said that I can start training after three weeks, so I should be back in one month." Zaman said, as quoted by PTI.
Once healed, Fakhar Zaman is expected to be a part of Pakistan's white-ball tour in New Zealand, which will lead into the PSL 2025 season.
