Reflecting on Australia's recent struggles against India, Pat Cummins acknowledged the challenge that lies ahead. "The last two series here in Australia, we haven't been successful, so it's been a long time. Hopefully, it's time to make amends," he said in an interview with Star Sports.

India, having retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the last four series, from 2016-17 to 2022-23, have been a formidable opponent for Australia. Particularly notable were India's victories on Australian soil in 2018-19 and 2020-21, where they overcame significant odds to secure historic series wins.

Pat Cummins, however, remains optimistic about Australia's chances. "You know, we've played them (India) plenty of times where they've beaten us, but we've also had plenty of wins against them as well, which we'll draw confidence from," he remarked. He pointed to Australia's recent victory over India in the World Test Championship Final, held in neutral conditions, as a source of confidence going into this series.

"It's always fiercely competitive, and it always feels like it's 50-50. I'm 10 out of 10 excited for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy," Cummins added, expressing his eagerness for the series to begin. His comments underscore the evenly matched nature of the rivalry, which has produced some of the most thrilling moments in Test cricket over the years.
