Shreyas Iyer Mimics KKR Teammate Sunil Narine's Action at Buchi Babu Tournament in Mumbai vs TNCA XI
Shreyas Iyer playfully mirrors KKR teammate Sunil Narine's action during Buchi Babu tournament match against TNCA XI in Mumbai.
Having guided KKR to triumph in the IPL 2024 championship under the oversight of Gautam Gambhir, currently the head coach of the Indian Team, Shreyas Iyer is among the most skilled cricketers in India. Working constantly to establish his place in Indian cricket, Iyer hopes for a national team call-up under Gambhir's direction, who recently has been very open about wanting cricketers in his team who have an edge with bowling if they are a batter and have an edge in batting if they are a bowler.
Shreyas Iyer displays his bowling skills and imitates KKR teammate Sunil Naraine
Shreyas Iyer is eager to show the Indian selectors his adaptable abilities by proving his bowling strength during the Buchi Babu tournament match between Mumbai and TNCA XI. The player eyes success after he was left from India’s squad that lifted the ICC T20 World Cup in Barbados in July. Joining the Mumbai team with the new T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, Iyer arrived at the Sri Ramakrishna College Cricket Ground.
Iyer seized the chance to bowl in the Buchi Babu game, giving his game yet another level of variation. Though he has bowled previously, his performance in this game caught notice especially as he matched the bowling technique of his IPL compatriot and West Indies star Sunil Narine.
Entering the attack in the latter stages of the day, Iyer bowled the 90th over with a 287/5 scoreline. Although he only let one run from the first five deliveries, R. Sonu Yadav struck for a six on the last delivery. India's head coach, Gautam Gambhir, who values Narine's all-round performance, would find his bowling appealing.
Day one saw TNCA XI score a strong 294/5 due to half-centuries from Boopathi Vaishna Kumar (63 not out off 121 balls, with 6 fours), B. Indrajith (61 off 115 balls, with 7 fours), and Pradosh Ranjan Paul (65 off 87 balls).
Shreyas Iyer will eye to attain glory in the Duleep Trophy 2024
Shreyas Iyer has not had a major influence in the longest form although having played 14 Test matches. His performance has been unimpressive since January last year; he only 187 runs over 12 innings at an average of 17.00 and a top score of 35. The Indian cricket team is star-studded and Iyer will have to work extra in order for the middle-order spot under Gautam Gambhir.
India is scheduled to play 10 Test matches over the next four months including a difficult five-match series in Australia.
Before they go to Australia in November, India's test season will start with a two-match series against Bangladesh then include three tests versus New Zealand.
Shreyas Iyer will be the skipper for Team D in the Duleep Trophy in the interval after the Buchi Babu event. Among his team's members would be Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan, Harshit Rana, and others.
Duleep Trophy Team D Squad: Shreyas Iyer (C), Atharva Taide, Yash Dubey, Devdutt Padikkal, Ishan Kishan (WK), Ricky Bhui, Saransh Jain, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Aditya Thakare, Harshit Rana, Tushar Deshpande, Akash Sengupta, KS Bharat (WK), Saurabh Kumar.
