  • Team India have won consecutive ICC titles in white ball cricket.
  • Team India recently lost to New Zealand & Australia in Test Cricket.
  • The Men in Blue also failed to qualify for the WTC Final.

Former Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly is alarmed over Test skipper Rohit Sharma's poor form, saying that he can do much better than what he has been doing in red-ball cricket. With a crucial red-ball series fast approaching, Ganguly has urged Rohit to put up his thinking cap as it would be a hard series. He added that the Indian skipper is one of the greatest in white ball, but Rohit needs to perform well in red ball cricket.

Ganguly Alarmed Over Rohit Sharma's Slump In Test Cricket

Rohit Sharma has picked up immense success in T20I and ODI Cricket recently. The Indian skipper led the Men in Blue to two consecutive ICC title wins, gaining enormous success and cementing dominance in the global cricket realm. Rohit-led Team India is coming off a grand title win at the ICC Champions Trophy after they defeated New Zealand to win the coveted silverware. However, the Indian skipper's form in red-ball cricket has been concerning, and Sourav Ganguly has also sounded alarm over his poor form.

"What has surprised me is his form in red ball over last 4-5 years. A player of his stature and ability, he can do much better than what he has done. He must put on his thinking cap because we have 5 Tests against England and that's going to be another hard series. Just like the way it was in Australia. It's going to seam; it's going to swing. India need him to perform in the red ball but in white ball, he is one of the greatest ever," Sourav Ganguly said to RevSportz.

Ganguly Worried Over Team India's Performance In Tests

After speaking about Rohit Sharma, Sourav Ganguly continued to voice his concern over Team India's overall performance decline in Test cricket. The former skipper also mentioned that the team needs to figure out a way to play well in the upcoming series.

"I'm not surprised that he's taken the side to greater heights in white ball. I don't know whether he's going to continue playing Test cricket but if he is hearing me, he should take the responsibility of turning things around in red-ball. India are not good at red-ball at the moment and they need to look at it, find a way to play well in England because that's going to be a very important five-Test series. Rohit has to find a way to get this team going," the former India skipper added.

Team India's next big red-ball assignment will take place against England in an away series, which will commence at the Yorkshire Cricket Ground on June 20, 2025.
