India captain Suryakumar Yadav was in high spirits ahead of the first T20I against Bangladesh in Gwalior, as seen in a video shared by the BCCI. The video showcased Suryakumar's lighthearted and playful side as he teased his teammates during a net session.
As his teammates, including Washington Sundar, Abhishek Sharma, and Jitesh Sharma took turns batting in the nets, Suryakumar Yadav couldn't resist passing comments and sharing laughs with them. However, one moment that stood out was when he affectionately referred to Washington Sundar as 'Gabba' after the latter hit an impressive shot.

The nickname 'Gabba' is a nod to Washington Sundar's heroic performance during the memorable Test match against Australia in 2021. In that match against Australia, Sundar scored a crucial 62 and forged a century stand with Shardul Thakur in the first innings, helping India secure a thrilling victory and win the series 2-1. His all-around contributions, including four wickets, made him a standout performer in that game. Sundar also scored 22 runs in India's second innings, helping Rishabh Pant finish the game.
The 'Gabba' moniker holds a special significance for Washington Sundar, who was so inspired by his performance that he even named his dog ‘Gabba’.
As the team prepares to take on Bangladesh in the first T20I, all eyes will be on Suryakumar Yadav 's captaincy. The Indian batter has already won his first T20I series as full-time captain in July this year when India defeated Sri Lanka 3-0.

As far as the Indian team is concerned, all-rounder Shivam Dube has been ruled out of the T20I series against Bangladesh due to a back injury. Tilak Varma has replaced the Mumbai cricketer in the Indian squad. The first T20I is scheduled to take place in Gwalior on Sunday.
