Temba Bavuma to Miss 3rd ODI Match vs Ireland After Sustaining Injury, to Fly Back Home
Cricket South Africa has announced that skipper Temba Bavuma will not be in action in the final ODI match of the Ireland series. The 34-year-old picked up an injury during the second ODI match after he sustained a soft tissue injury on his left elbow. In his absence, Rassie van der Dussen will take over the captaincy reins for the last ODI match on Monday.
During the 12th over of the 2nd ODI match, Bavuma had an awkward landing on his elbow while making his round at the non-striker's end. The injury prevented him from fielding, and he will be heading back home and get an idea about the extent of his injury from a specialist doctor.
"Proteas Men's One-Day International (ODI) captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the third ODI against Ireland due to a soft tissue injury on his left elbow. The 34-year-old sustained the injury during the second ODI on Friday after landing on his elbow while making ground at the non-striker's end in the 12th over of South Africa's innings," the CSA said in a statement.

To replace Bavuma, the Proteas have roped in Reeza Hendricks, and he will be arriving in Abu Dhabi ahead of the game. But it will be an easy road for the Proteas as they already have a 2-0 lead in the series. Ireland will be aiming to halt South Africa's momentum and avoid a clean sweep by securing a consolation win.
