Melbourne Stars got the better of Melbourne Renegades

About the match, Melbourne Stars won the toss and elected to bowl first. Due to rain interruption, the play was curtailed to 14 overs. Batting first, Renegades had a flying start with Quinton de Kock hitting boundaries all around. However, the fall of quick wickets left the Renegades in a spot of bother and following the dismissal of Jake Fraser-McGurk at 55/4, it was all the pick-up game for Renegades. Their plight continued and after 14 overs Melbourne Renegades could only get to the score of 97/7.

Chasing 98, Stars suffered an initial hiccup in the form of Dan Lawrence's wicket but Tom Rodgers and captain Glenn Maxwell played maturely to get their side home. Stars won the encounter by 8 wickets and Maxwell was adjudged the man of the match for his all-round performance.
