Team India batsman Sanju Samson finally ended his drought as he brought up his maiden ODI century against South Africa at Boland Park in Paarl.

Sanju Samson finally ended his long drought as he scored his maiden ODI century against South Africa in the second ODI at Boland Park in Paarl on Thursday. Riding on Sanju's exemplary knock Team India posted a competitive 296 runs on the board. Sanju's previous best also was against South Africa.

Sanju Samson scored maiden ODI century against Australia

Samson arrived at the crease amidst a shaky condition as Team India lost Rajat Patidar and Sai Sudharsan. He forged a solid partnership with skipper KL Rahul and following his dismissal took the reigns and continued to slam the bowlers all over the ground.

His 116 run stand with Tilak Varma helped the visitors to recover lost ground and Sanju eventually was dismissed for 108 runs. His innings consisted of six fours and three sixes.

Sanju Samson celebrates maiden ODI century in style

Sanju flexed his muscles and raised his bat whole celebrating his century in style.

Sanju insisted this century is indeed an emotional one for him.

“Feels interesting, just going through with it. Feels an emotional one. There's been a lot of work I've been putting in physically and mentally over the past year. They bowled well with the new ball, as the ball got older it was getting difficult to bat. But we got momentum through my partnership with Tilak. Maharaj bowled really well.”

Sanju has often faced criticism for not taking up his opportunities and has only been involved in 16 limited-over matches so far.
