West Indies pacer Shannon Gabriel has officially announced his retirement from International Cricket. As he steps down, the Windies star will leave a legacy which will be remembered for a long time. The pacer has been a critical star for the West Indies side in the red-ball format, as Shannon has contributed with the ball in taking wickets. Gabriel is now calling time in his career and shares what he would do next. While announcing his retirement, he touched upon the time representing his nation and expressed gratitude for the fans' support.

West Indies' Shannon Gabriel Calls Time in International Cricket After 12 Years

Shannon Gabriel took to the social media platform Instagram to announce his retirement from International Cricket. He thanked the Cricket Board members and his teammates for all the support he and his family received as an active cricketer. He also offered an update on his post-retirement endeavours, as he will continue playing domestic cricket for Trinidad & Tobago and feature in franchise cricket for various teams globally.

"During the past 12 years, I have dedicated myself to playing international cricket for the West Indies. Playing this beloved game at the highest level has brought me immense joy, but as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Today, I am announcing my retirement from international cricket. Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to God for the numerous blessings and the opportunities my family and I have received during my time playing for the West Indies.

"Secondly, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Cricket West Indies administrators, coaches, and staff members. Words cannot adequately convey the appreciation I have for your hard work and support over the years. Last but not least, I am grateful to my teammates and all those who have stood by me and supported me along the way. You have made my journey to the top truly special. Moving forward, my plan is to continue representing my country, club, and franchise teams around the world with the same love and passion I have shown throughout my career," Shannon Gabriel's statement said.

Gabriel played 59 Tests, 25 ODIs, and two T20Is for the Caribbeans, scalping 202 wickets for his home nation. Gabriel took 166 Test wickets, including six five-wicket hauls, during his 12-year career in international cricket. The pacer last appeared for the Windies in July 2023 and has since represented Trinidad and Tobago in domestic competitions.
