With just a few months to go for the much-awaited Champions Trophy 2024, there is much speculation over will the Indian cricket team travel to Pakistan or not. Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif reckons newly-appointed ICC Chairman Jay Shah should make arrangements so that the Indian team can travel to Pakistan. Latif went onto claim that the Pakistan Cricket Board did not oppose Shah's candidature because they reckoned the latter would back India's travel to Pakistan.

What Latif SAID…

Latif said on his YouTube channel: “PCB has not opposed Shah's appointment for a reason. I think there's an understanding. If India's team comes, it will be because of Jay Shah’s efforts, along with support from their government.”

"Approval has already been halfway granted. India is coming to Pakistan," he added.

If Pakistan eventually hosts the marquee event, it will be the first-time since the 1996 World Cup that the country would be hosting an ICC event.

Shah as BCCI Secretary

His efforts as BCCI secretary in giving equal priority to men’s and women’s cricket have made the Indian board a "pioneer" for other governing bodies of the game to follow, reckoned legendary Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday. Shah will leave BCCI after a five-year stint, which began in October 2019, to take over as the independent chairman of the International Cricket Council from December 1.

Shah will be the fifth Indian to head the ICC and Tendulkar hoped that he would be able to carry the legacy forward.

In the upcoming days, there would be more clarity on the subject. Speculations are rife about where will CT 2025 happen.
