On November 8, the reigning champions won by a margin of 160 runs in Pune's MCA Stadium. In an interview with Sky Sports Cricket, Morgan stressed the importance of this victory, taking into account England's previous setbacks in the 2023 World Cup—five losses prior to their lone success. He said: 

“They'll have done a huge amount of talking throughout this tournament. The longest meetings are always after the biggest defeats. They can take a lot of confidence from today,”
