Following the team's victory over the Netherlands in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, former England captain Eoin Morgan voiced his trust in them. On November 8, the reigning champions won by a margin of 160 runs in Pune's MCA Stadium. In an interview with Sky Sports Cricket, Morgan stressed the importance of this victory, taking into account England's previous setbacks in the 2023 World Cup—five losses prior to their lone success. He said:

“They'll have done a huge amount of talking throughout this tournament. The longest meetings are always after the biggest defeats. They can take a lot of confidence from today,”

England need to beat Pakistan in their last  match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023

According to Morgan, these kinds of outcomes provide teams a sense of ease and relief. Now, England's attention turns to their World Cup 2023 encounter against Pakistan, which is vital to win in order to possibly qualify for the Champions Trophy in 2025. He added:

“But results, chipping away with little performances like this, do make a difference. They allow sides to take some time, breath, relax and go this is what we do well, let's stick with the same plan,” 

England is set to face Pakistan on Saturday at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens Stadium.
