McLaren have become the team to beat over the past few weeks in Formula One ever since they brought in their upgrades at the Miami GP and have been the most dominant car by far. Their cause has also been helped by the fact that Red Bull is going through a massive loss in performance which has resulted in them struggling to even get on the podium. These struggles of Red Bull have led to them losing a grip on both the Drivers Championship and the Constructors Championship.

Both championships currently are there for the taking for McLaren but some hurdles emerged at the Italian Grand Prix weekend when Lando Norris was overtaken by his teammate Oscar Piastri on lap 1. Ever since then, there has been a lot of talk regarding whether McLaren will bring in team orders or not.

Piastri Ready To Support Norris

It has finally been revealed that Oscar Piastri will support Lando Norris in his quest for a World Championship. Lando Norris is currently only 62 points behind Max Verstappen and with the form McLaren is in Lando Norris can fight and possibly win the championship.

“The team have asked me to help out and I’ve said for the last few races that if I was asked, then I would.

“Of course, naturally as a driver it’s never an easy thing, or simple thing, to agree to. There’s a much bigger picture in play than just myself.

“I’m still coming out here to try and achieve the best results I can and put myself in a good position to just score a lot of points for myself and also the team. I know that if there are some ways of helping the points for Lando, then I’ll do that,” said Oscar Piastri showing support for his teammate Lando Norris.

“In Monza coming out of the second chicane in first and third for the team is of course not ideal.

“For myself, yes, it put me in a race-winning position. We didn’t finish in second and third because of this move. We finished second and third because of a bold strategy from Ferrari.

“Some things will be different from now [on], but we’ll just see what kind of race circumstances we’re in first,” answered Piastri as Formula One heads to Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan.
