The Xiaomi Redmi Go smartphone that could be priced at less than Rs 5000 is now finally set for launch on 19 March. This handset, driven by Android Go would be launched on 19 March at 12PM IST.

Now, the teaser to this event carries the tagline “#AapkiNayiDuniya”. Here, it is worth noting that the Redmi Go went official a month ago and is targeted at the budget conscious buyers preferring a no-nonsense Android experience. With software taken care of by the Android Go platform - that is customized to sync even with comparatively lower-end hardware, it naturally becomes worth taking a look at the key technical specifications offered by the smartphone:

  • 5-inch HD Display with 720p high resolution
  • Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC clocked at 1.4GHz
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8MP rear camera; offering LED-flash
  • 5MP front snapper
  • Dual SIM-card slot
  • LTE, HSPA, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 2.0, and microUSB connectivity
  • 3000mAh battery.

Once the Redmi Go is official, there could be potential competition to Reliance Jio’s JioPhone (interestingly a series of 4G-enabled feature phones) whose newest variant has a sub-Rs 3K price tag in India.

In related updates, Xiaomi’s recent offerings viz the Mi 9 and Redmi Note 7 Pro have been subjected to durability analysis under varying conditions and multiple parameters, by renowned technology analyst JerryRigEverything.
