Iranian Plane Allegedly Carrying Weapons Makes U-Turn Over Iraq After IDF's Warning
An Iranian Qeshm Fars Air flight from Tehran, allegedly carrying weapons to Hezbollah, made a sudden U-turn over Iraqi airspace after IDF Issued a warning.
Jerusalem: Amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East, an Iranian Qeshm Fars Air flight from Tehran, allegedly carrying weapons to Hezbollah, made a sudden U-turn over Iraqi airspace on Saturday, after reportedly Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) issued warnings for the plane to take a turn back. According to flight tracking data, the flight from Tehran took a U-turn over Iraqi airspace. Reports claimed that the IDF while issuing a warning for the flight, cited concerns over the transfer of Iranian arms to the Lebanon-based militant group.
The Israeli media claimed that the flight was on its way to either Lebanon or Syria before being intercepted by Israeli Defence Forces, which said that its “military blockade” on Lebanon would continue, likely for an extended period.
IDF Vows To Disrupt Iran's Attempts To Send Weapons To Hezbollah Via Beirut Airport
The IDF has maintained a "military blockade" on Lebanon, targeting several military crossings between Lebanon and Syria, including a tunnel, and a civilian crossing used by Hezbollah. The IDF has also struck several warehouses in Syria believed to be storing Iranian weapons intended for Hezbollah.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching Fadi-1 rockets at Israel's Ramat David Air Base near Haifa, around 45 km from the Lebanese border. The group also stated that its fighters had hit an Israeli tank in South Lebanon with a missile.
The Israeli Air Force intercepted a "suspicious aerial target" that crossed into Israeli territory from Lebanon, triggering alerts for potential rocket and missile fire. Two launches were detected, with one successfully intercepted and the other landing in an open area.
Tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated in recent days, with the IDF vowing to disrupt any attempts by Iran to send weapons to Hezbollah via the civilian airport in Beirut. A week ago, it was reported that Israel had hacked into Beirut International Airport's control tower to warn an Iranian plane not to land.
The situation remains volatile, with both sides exchanging warnings and threats. The international community is closely monitoring the situation, urging restraint and diplomacy to avoid further escalation.
