In a recent statement, Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli emphasized his country's commitment to maintaining balanced relations with both India and China. Speaking at a book release function, Oli underscored that occasional issues between neighboring countries are "natural" and can be addressed through "open dialogue."

Oli asserted, "We don't allow our land to be used against any of our neighbours." He highlighted Nepal's approach to international relations, noting that the Himalayan nation seeks to maintain "good and friendly relations with both neighbours in a balanced manner by observing honesty and neutrality."

The 72-year-old, who has served as prime minister four times, acknowledged that disputes with neighbors are to be expected but can be resolved through communication. "The problem will not arise if we seek justifiable and appropriate solutions on the basis of facts and proofs by maintaining international obligations without elaborating on the matter much," he explained.

Reaffirming Nepal's adherence to the principles of the United Nations, Oli stressed the importance of neutral and peaceful resolutions to conflicts. He cautioned against using geopolitics as an excuse to mask internal weaknesses.

Oli also called on India to accept the report prepared by the Nepal-India Eminent Persons Group (EPG Report), which includes recommendations on reviewing the Peace and Friendship Treaty of 1950. He believes that accepting this report would help facilitate dialogue and resolve border issues.

Reflecting on his past achievements, Oli recalled the signing of the Trade and Transit Treaty with China during his previous term as prime minister. This agreement, signed in 2016, allowed Nepal access to Chinese sea and land ports, marking a significant milestone in Nepal's foreign trade capabilities.

Oli, known for his pro-China stance, highlighted the Transit and Transport Agreement (TTA) as a notable accomplishment that has strengthened Nepal's trade routes and international trade opportunities.
