Justin Ownby, a farmer from Cleveland in Tennessee grew a 412.8 kg pumpkin and decided to convert it into a boat. He even took the giant pumpkin for a spin in his farm pond. According to an international media outlet, it was Justin's dream to grow a huge pumpkin and for the past four years, he has been trying to reach his goal of growing a 1,000-pound pumpkin. His wife Christin Ownby claimed that this year her husband had a seed from last year's record-breaking pumpkin grown in Tennessee that he had planted in May. She further added that the farmer used to water it daily and made sure that the beetles didn't get to it.

Christin told the international reporters that to have some fun, Justin had hollowed out the pumpkin and harvested the seeds but later he plunged the pumpkin in the pond on the family's property, climbed inside and started paddling around. Christin also recorded the adventure and posted it on Facebook where Justin can also bee is seen standing up in the pumpkin before tipping over into the water. According to Christin, the Punpkin Justin grew was the biggest they have ever grown. The largest before that the couple grew weighed 99.8 kgs. She claims that Justin is hoping to break the 1,000 pound mark next year as he won't stop growing giant pumpkins anytime soon.

619 kg pumpkin boat

Last year a man from Yorkshire paddled down a river riding on a 619 kg pumpkin in order to mark the Halloween day. Tom Pearcy, the owner of York Maze, is reportedly claiming to have broken a world record by paddling such a giant pumpkin down a river. As per media reports, a humongous pumpkin was lifted into the River Ouse via a crane at Ouse Bridge, from where Tom paddled his way through the river and reached Skeldergate Bridge covering around 400 meters. His company, York Maze, has applied to Guinness World Records stating that he rode the largest pumpkin boat ever and asked them to acknowledge his achievement. As per media reports, a pumpkin race is held in Germany every year where 'boats' weigh at least 250kg to minimise their risk of capsizing. However, the pumpkin Pearcy rode on is reportedly heavier than any other pumpkin boats ever recorded.
