Mitchell Starc Joins DC Camp

Starc had been sidelined for an extended period due to shoulder and elbow injuries. However, he is expected to miss Delhi Capitals’ upcoming clash against Punjab Kings in IPL 2026.

The 36-year-old left-arm pacer has been out of action since late January following a demanding Ashes campaign, where he was named Player of the Series after claiming 31 wickets at an average of 19.93.

Starc bowled more than 150 overs across five Tests before featuring in five matches for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL). His last appearance came against the Perth Scorchers, where he injured his left shoulder and elbow while attempting a catch. Although he took a break in February, lingering soreness upon resuming bowling further delayed his IPL arrival.

Delhi Capitals confirmed Starc’s return via their official social media handle, sharing a clip of the Australian pacer with the caption: “Worth the wait. Welcome back home, Tiger.”

Starc’s presence is expected to provide a significant boost to the Delhi-based franchise amid their ongoing struggles in the 19th edition of the IPL. DC have played six matches so far, winning three and losing three.

Currently, Delhi Capitals sit sixth on the IPL 2026 standings with six points and a net run rate of -0.130. They will face Punjab Kings in their upcoming fixture at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
