Sources have reported that Rinku Singh has headed back home because of a family emergency. Reports from TOI have also specified that the health of Rinku's father, Khanchandra Singh, has deteriorated in the past few days. He has been undergoing cancer treatment for over a year. Rinku has left Chennai to be by his father's side.

Team India In Perilous Spot Following Super 8 Opener Defeat

Rinku Singh exited the India camp in a perilous state, as the co-hosts suffered an abysmal defeat in the Super 8 competition. The Men in Blue suffered a 76-run defeat at the hands of South Africa, putting their semifinal chances in jeopardy.

The Indian team management would have to re-strategise and figure out a potent Playing XI for the side. There is a chance that Axar Patel could be brought back into the fold.

The veteran all-rounder was not in India's Playing XI when they faced South Africa, leading to grave criticism by fans and pundits.
